Owen Wilson will soon appear in the indie comedy Paint and his character in this project looks quite familiar. The first teaser trailer for his promising movie is here, and it sees Wilson channeling his inner Bob Ross.

According to the film’s official synopsis, Paint centers on “Carl Nargle, Vermont’s No. 1 public TV painter who is convinced he has it all: a signature perm, custom van, and fans hanging on his every stroke… until a younger, better artist steals everything (and everyone) Carl loves.”

This description makes it clear that Paint isn’t a direct Bob Ross biopic, but a single glimpse at Carl Nargle is all it takes to figure out who he was inspired by. Wilson’s look in this movie is clearly modeled after Ross, who hosted The Joy of Painting for over a decade and stayed a beloved figure long after his death in 1995.

Wilson is fresh off the success of the Disney+ series Loki, and we’ve also seen him star in Marry Me and Secret Headquarters last year. In addition to Paint, he’ll also appear in the star-studded horror comedy Haunted Mansion later this year.

Paint will hit the theaters on April 7 and its cast also includes Michaela Watkins, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Ciara Renée, Lusia Strus, and Stephen Root.
