Singer Paloma Faith will be playing the villainess in Pennyworth.

Pennyworth is the upcoming Batman prequel which will tell the story of Alfred the Butler, long before the Batman era. Alfred was a special-forces officer living in London and working for Bruce Wayne’s father in the 1960s.

Paloma Faith, the retro and eccentric singer-songwriter has been cast as the villain of the series. Warner Horizon Scripted Television has described her character as a “spirited, sadistic and sharp-tongued villain.” The character’s name, however, is being kept under wraps for now.

Faith will star alongside Jack Bannon (Imitation Game) who will be playing the leading role as Alfred Pennyworth. The show is from the executive producers of Gotham, Bruno Heller, and Danny Cannon.

The series will be made up of 10 hour-long episodes and will show a whole new side to Alfred, who we are used to seeing as a servant. We will see his charismatic personality and intelligence put to use when he is employed by the billionaire company owned by Batman’s father.

Production for the Batman sequel Pennyworth will commence October 22 this year but a release date has not yet been confirmed.
