Paramore made a huge comeback with their new album This Is Why and they’re doing a great job promoting its release. Only a few days after this long-awaited record hit the shelves, the pop-rock band took us on a surreal journey in a music video for “Running Out Of Time”.

The Ivanna Borin-directed visual opens with Hayley Williams in the recording studio, feeling tired and uninspired, but things quickly start to get wild. The instruments around her start to come to life, so she decides to climb inside a guitar case and enters a colorful and fantastical world.

Williams discussed the meaning of this song in a Genius interview and explained it explores the idea that we don’t have enough time to fix everything and the struggle to pick a specific problem to focus our energy on when the whole world seems to be burning.

“I feel like my sense of anxiety around time management has gotten worse since the pandemic. It was so much tragedy, so much heavy, dark s—t happening, and then also just stillness. The stillness part of it, I wish I could keep and take with me, but that’s not real life,” she explained.

“Running Out of Time” was released as the fourth single from Paramore’s new studio album This Is Why. It’s their first LP in six years and it received universal acclaim following its release on February 10.
