“Parasite” Wins Big at the Australian Academy International Awards

Kang-ho Song, Hyae Jin Chang, Woo-sik Choi, and So-dam Park in "Gisaengchung" (Parasite)

Bong Joon-ho gave us one of the most critically acclaimed movies of the past year with Parasite, and he’s scooping one major award after another. This insightful social satire won big at the Australian Academy International Awards.

AACTA International Award for the best film went to this South Korean drama, which ended up beating the likes of The Irishman, Joker, The King, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Quentin Tarantino’s latest film still did pretty great at this ceremony and picked up awards for the best direction and best supporting actor (Brad Pitt).

The list of acting winners also included Adam Driver (Marriage Story), Saoirse Ronan (Little Women), and Margot Robbie who managed to beat the tough competition in the best supporting actress category with her performance in Bombshell. Taika Waititi picked up the best screenplay award for his work on Jojo Rabbit.
