“Party of Five” Reboot Canceled at Freeform

Niko Guardado, Emily Tosta, and Elle Paris Legaspi in "Party of Five"

The Party of Five reboot will not return for a second season.

Multiple outlets confirm that the one-hour immigration-themed drama on the network has been canceled by Freedom. This means that the show has effectively ended its single-season run in early March.

The series followed the five Acosta children as they navigate daily life struggles to survive as a family unit after their parents suddenly are deported back to Mexico. It starred Brandon Larracuente, Emily Tosta, Niko Guardado, and Elle Paris Legaspi.

Party of Five embodies the heart and soul of what it means to be a family in the most trying of times. We’re so lucky that Freeform gets to be the home for this reimagined story, as we continue to represent the resilience of young adults and the importance of fighting for your voice in times of doubt,” said network president Tom Ascheim when the series was announced.

The reboot from creators Chris Keyser and Amy Lippman averaged only 250,000 Live+Same Day viewers.
