It’s been four years since Paul Thomas Anderson shared his last movie with the world, and he’s finally ready for a comeback. The first trailer for his upcoming coming-of-age drama Licorice Pizza is here, and it promises one wild, nostalgic ride through the San Fernando Valley.

Licorice Pizza will be your cup of tea if you’re a fan of Anderson’s early movies, such as Boogie Nights and Magnolia since it has the same setting and similar vibe. It centers on a teenage actor as he chases ambition, romance, and youthful abandon against the backdrop of LA.

Cooper Hoffman, whose late father Philip Seymour Hoffman used to be one of Anderson’s frequent collaborators, is set to make his acting debut in Licorice Pizza along with Alana Haim from the all-sister rock band Haim. This project will also star Sean Penn, Tom Waits, Bradley Cooper, and Benny Safdie.

Licorice Pizza will be Anderson’s first full-length film since Phantom Thread, which came out in 2017 and scored him his second Oscar nomination for the best director. It will get a limited release on November 26th, followed by a wide release on December 25th.
