After years of wishing that Community’s prophecy of “six seasons and a movie” would come true, fans are finally getting what they were asking for. Peacock gave Community: The Movie a green light, and most of the original cast members are expected to come back.

What started as a cheeky line from this cult comedy series is now turning into a reality, and NBCUniversal Television and Streaming’s chairman Susan Rovner confirmed Peacock’s involvement in this high-profile project.

“We’re incredibly grateful that 15 years later, we are able to deliver fans this promised movie and can’t wait to get to work with Dan Harmon, Andrew Guest, Joel McHale, Sony, and our partners at UTV to continue this epic comedy for Peacock audiences,” said Rovner in a statement.

Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash, and Ken Jeong are expected to reprise their roles from the original series. Chevy Chase, Donald Glover, and Yvette Nicole Brown aren’t involved in the movie, after leaving the show early and not coming back for Season 6.

Community ran on NBC for the first five seasons, while the last season premiered on Yahoo! Screen in 2015. It followed an unlikely group of friends attending a fictional community college and became a cult hit thanks to its meta-humor and pop culture references.
