Based on a True Story created quite a splash when it premiered on Peacock this summer, and we haven’t seen the last of this series just yet! The streamer renewed the comedic thriller starring Kaley Cuoco and Chris Messina for its second season.

Peacock’s official synopsis describes Based on a True Story as a dark comedic thriller, about a realtor, a former tennis star, and a plumber who seize a unique opportunity to capitalize on America’s obsession with true crime after an infamous serial killer starts terrorizing LA.

Kaley Cuoco plays Ava Bartlett, a true-crime-obsessed real estate agent who’s in the middle of her pregnancy, while Chris Messina stars as her husband Nathan Bartlett, who used to be a famous tennis player before turning to coaching after a career-ending injury.

In addition to Cuoco and Messina, this series also stars Tom Bateman, Priscilla Quintana, Liana Liberato, Natalia Dyer, Li Jun Li, Annabelle Dexter-Jones, and Aisha Alfa.

Based on a True Story was developed for Peacock by Craig Rosenberg, who serves as its creator, writer, showrunner, and executive producer. Jason Bateman and Michael Costigan are executive producing via their Aggregate Films banner, alongside Alex Buono and Kaley Cuoco.

The first season premiered on Peacock on June 8, and the streamer is yet to share details about the show’s second season.
