Peacock gave us one of its most chilling dramas yet with the first season of Dr. Death and its follow-up is on the way. This anthology series has been renewed for Season 2, which is set to shift focus to a brand-new set of characters.

Dr. Death is based on a hit podcast of the same name, which explores some of the most scandalous cases of medical malpractice. The upcoming season of the Peacock series will follow the storyline from the third season of the podcast, focusing on a surgeon Paolo Macchiarini, known as “Miracle Man”.

Ashley Michel Hoban, writer-producer of the first season of the series, is coming on board as showrunner this time around. She said that she’s honored to have the opportunity to expand the Dr. Death universe with this fascinating story.

“This season, we go global to explore how institutional failure to protect patients is a universal issue, but there are always heroes standing up and fighting for change every day. I can’t wait to share this story of romance, intrigue, complicated characters, and, of course, the eeriness that is Dr. Death with our fans,” said Hoban in a statement.

The first season of Dr. Death focused on a sinister Texas surgeon Christopher Duntsch, who left two of his patients dead and dozens more injured. It starred Joshua Jackson, Grace Gummer, Christian Slater, Alec Baldwin, and AnnaSophia Robb.
