Ridley Scott is busy plotting the sequel to his Oscar-winning historical epic Gladiator, and the more we learn about it—the more excited we are! The cast of this highly-anticipated follow-up film is getting more amazing by the day, and Pedro Pascal is the latest star to join its ensemble.

The second season of Pascal’s hit HBO series The Last of Us is currently in the works and he’ll be pretty busy in the meantime. He’s in final negotiations to join Scott’s next film in a mystery role, and this project sounds right down his alley.

Even before leading The Last of Us, Pascal starred in a wide range of action-packed projects, from Game of Thrones to The Mandalorian. He also played key roles in the films Kingsman: The Golden Circle, The Great Wall, and Wonder Woman 1984. He’ll next star alongside Ethan Hawke in Pedro Almodovar’s second English-speaking film Strange Way of Life.

Pascal will be in pretty good company on set of Gladiator 2 because its cast is bursting with talent. Paul Mescal, the Oscar- and Emmy-nominated star of Normal People and Aftersun, will lead the cast alongside Barry Keoghan, Joseph Quinn, Connie Nielsen, and Denzel Washington.
