Pedro Pascal is no stranger to portraying iconic characters in major franchises, and he’s getting ready to do it again. The Last of Us star is reportedly eyeing the role of Reed Richards aka Mister Fantastic in Marvel Entertainment’s upcoming Fantastic Four remake.
Pascal is in talks with Marvel to play the leader of the iconic superhero team, but his casting is yet to be confirmed. According to Deadline, Marvel won’t officially cast Pascal before they figure out the scheduling and they’ll only start looking for the rest of the ensemble once they figure out who would play Reed Richards.
Scheduling is the main issue standing in the way of Pascal’s casting since he’s been one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood in recent years. In addition to leading two hit series—Disney’s The Mandalorian and HBO’s The Last of Us—the Emmy-nominated actor is also attached to Ridley Scott’s Gladiator 2 and Ethan Coen’s Drive-Away Dolls.
Fantastic Four has been adapted to the big screen two times during the 21st century, with Ioan Gruffudd and Miles Teller portraying Reed Richards. John Krasinski also made a cameo as the alternate version of this character in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
