The People’s Choice Awards are one of the most lighthearted award ceremonies out there, and they did a great job kicking off the awards season. It was a big night for Marvel, with Black Widow and Loki taking top prizes, while BTS conquered the music categories.
Black Widow dominated the movie categories and won two major awards—the movie of the year and female star of the year for Scarlett Johansson. This superhero flick was in good company, as several Marvel and Disney projects won top prizes, including Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Jungle Cruise with two each.
When it comes to the TV field, Disney+ proved its domination once again. Loki collected the awards for the TV show of the year and male star of the year for Tom Hiddleston. Grey’s Anatomy and Keeping Up with the Kardashians were also amongst the major winners, with two trophies each.
It was also a big night for BTS in the music categories. The K-pop band collected the awards for the group, song, and music video of the year with “Butter”. They were closely followed by Olivia Rodrigo with two awards, including the new artist of the year.
People’s Choice Awards returned on December 7th, with Saturday Night Live’s Kenan Thompson taking on the hosting duties.
