Percy Jackson and the Olympians is one of the most anticipated new shows to premiere on Disney+ this year, and the streamer prepared a special treat for its fans. The TV adaptation of Rick Riordan’s beloved book series hit Disney+ and Hulu one day earlier than expected.

Based on Riordan’s hit series of fantasy novels, Percy Jackson and the Olympians centers on a titular demi-god, who must do everything in his power to restore order to Olympus after being accused by Zeus himself of stealing his thunderbolt.

Walker Scobell leads the series as Percy Jackson, alongside Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase and Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood. The supporting cast includes Virginia Kull, Glynn Turman, Jason Mantzoukas, Megan Mullally, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Jay Duplass, and Lance Reddick.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians was set to premiere on Disney+ and Hulu on December 20. The first two episodes hit the shelves one day earlier, while the remaining six will be released weekly until January 30, 2024.

Pamela Levine, head of marketing at Disney Branded Television, explained that the early premiere is a way to express gratitude to the show’s passionate fanbase.

“We’re so grateful for the amazing and dedicated Percy Jackson fans who have enthusiastically supported this project. They’ve been counting down the days, and as a special thank you, we wanted to let our fans enjoy the first two episodes a bit earlier than expected,” said Levine in a statement.
