“Pose” to End After Season 3

After three seasons on FX, Pose is coming to an end.

Back in 2019, the groundbreaking series, which was co-created by Ryan Murphy, Bard Falhuk, and Steven Canals, was renewed for a third season. The final seven-episode season will debut on May 2 with two episodes to be released. The series finale is set for June 6.

The show focuses on New York’s underground ball culture which started gaining notice in the ’80s and played a huge role in dancing, fashion, and music. The drama focuses on trans people and people of color and the AIDS epidemic of the era.

Pose debuted in 2018 and it’s received many awards including a Peabody Award, and AFI honors. Billy Porter became the first openly gay man to win an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

The show made history for featuring the largest cast of transgender actors series regulars ever assembled, along with the most LBGTQ actors in recurring roles ever. Executive producer, writer, and director Janet Mock became the first trans woman of color hired as a writer on a TV series as well as the first trans woman of color to write and direct a TV episode.

The rest of the cast includes Michaela Jaé, Dominique Jackson, Indya Moore, Hailie Sahar, Dyllón Burnside, Angel Bismark Curiel, Sandra Bernhard, and Jason A. Rodriguez.
