Following Season 1’s penultimate episode of Power Book II: Ghost, Starz revealed the first look at Power Book III: Raising Kanan, which is the next installment in the Power Universe.
The short clip goes back to the ’90s and the early years of the now-deceased Kanan Stark, portrayed in the original series by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.
“This is my story, this is the Southside Jamaica, Queens story,” Curtis’ Kanan says over the track.
The teaser is set to Quest’s “Excursions” and it features a ton of photographs showing Mekai Curtis’ young Kanan Stark. Everything from his upbringing in Jamaica, Queens to his friends is depicted, teasing the life events and personal connections that led to his demise.
Also starring in the prequel series are Patina Miller, Omar Epps, London Brown, Malcolm Mays, Shanley Caswell, Lovie Simone, Toby Sandeman, and Joey Bada$$. Quincy Brown, Ade Chike Torbert, Natalee Linez, and Annabelle Zasowski are in the series as well.
Power Book III: Raising Kanan is executive produced by Kemp and Sascha Penn serves as creator and showrunner. Mark Canton Chris Selak and Danielle DeJesus, Shana Stein, Bart Wenrich, and Kevin Fox also executive produced with Rob Hardy executive producing and directing the premiere episode.
