Meghan Markle lucked out when she received her in-laws.
Just prior to her wedding with Prince Harry in May, the 37-year-old’s father, Thomas Markle, withdrew from walking her down the aisle due to suffering a heart attack and having to undergo surgery.

As a result, the bride-to-be was left without a father figure to guide her to her Prince. Until, that is, Harry’s father, Prince Charles, filled in.
In a BBC One documentary honoring the first-in-line, entitled Prince, Son, and Heir: Charles at 70, Harry revealed just how his father reacted when asked to accompany Meghan down the aisle.
To mark The Prince of Wales’s 70th birthday, a new @BBC documentary follows a year in the life of HRH, both at work and at home.

“I asked him to and I think he knew it was coming, and he immediately said ‘Yes, of course, I’ll do whatever Meghan needs and I’m here to support you,’” said the 33-year-old. “For him, that’s a fantastic opportunity to step up and be that support, and you know he’s our father so of course he’s going to be there for us.”
Well done, old boy.
