“Queer As Folk” Reboot in Works at Bravo

Bravo is developing a new series of Queer as Folk.

According to Variety, the network will launch a reboot of the UK original. The original series ran for ten episodes between 1999 and 2000 in the UK and starred Aidan Gillen, Charlie Hunnam, and Craig Kelly. A North American remake was launched in 2000 on Showtime. It ran for five seasons and starred Gale Harold, Randy Harrison, Hal Sparks, Peter Paige, and Scott Lowell.

Original series creator Russell T. Davies, as well as writer-director Stephen Dunn are on board. Dunn will write and direct the new version that will feature new characters in a new setting. The reboot is described as a modern take on the British original that centers on a group of club-going friends who find support in the gay community following a tragedy.

Dunn and Davies will also executive produce alongside Nicola Shindler who exec produced the original.
