Ir has been regarded as an open secret that Quentin Tarantino intends to only direct 10 films.

The filmmaker declared the plan as long as five years ago based on the notion of leaving audiences wanting more.

But, perhaps, 9 will be the lucky number.

Tarantino’s ninth feature film is Once Upon a Time in Hollywood which comes out on July 26th, having already premiered at Cannes.

“If [Once Upon a Time] is really well received, maybe I won’t go to 10,” he told GQ Australia. “Maybe I’ll stop right now! Maybe I’ll stop while I’m ahead. We’ll see. I think when it comes to theatrical movies, I’ve come to the end of the road.”

Tarantino’s films up until this point are Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill: Vol. 1, Kill Bill: Vol. 2, Grindhouse, Inglourious Basterds, Django Unchained, The Hateful Eight, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

So what does the 56-year-old intend to do after retiring?

“I see myself writing film books and starting to write theatre, so I’ll still be creative. I just think I’ve given all I have to give to movies.”

Let’s hope he has one more in him.
