After a lot of anticipation, the adaptation of Casey McQuiston’s hit novel Red, White & Royal Blue is finally here – and it was worth the wait! The acclaimed teen rom-com created a splash on Amazon Prime Video and became the streamer’s No. 1 movie globally following its strong debut.

Red, White & Royal Blue premiered on August 11, and an impressive number of viewers tuned in to watch it during its opening weekend. Amazon never reveals their viewership numbers, but they claim this film is also their third most-watched romantic comedy of all time.

Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon MGM Studios, praised director Matthew López, writer Casey McQuiston, and producers Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter for knocking it out of the park with this amazing adaptation.

“The phenomenal debut of Red, White & Royal Blue is a true testament to the entertaining and inspired storytelling led by the creative minds behind it. We are so proud of this delightful, heartwarming film and could not be more thrilled with the response from fans–existing and new,” said Salke in a statement.

Red, White & Royal Blue chronicles a relationship between the fictional British Prince Henry and Alex Claremont-Diaz, the First Son of the United States. It’s led by Taylor Zakhar Perez and Nicholas Galitzine, with Clifton Collins Jr., Sarah Shahi, Rachel Hilson, Stephen Fry, and Uma Thurman in supporting roles.
