Reese Witherspoon’s transition to television was a joy to watch and she just booked another exciting TV gig. The Oscar-winning actress will star and executive produce Amazon Prime’s half-hour series All-Star, which already received a two-season order.

This comedy has a strong Ted Lasso vibe to it and centers on a former cheerleader from Daytona Beach who cons her way across the pond to become a cheerleading teacher in coastal England. There, she must learn how to transform a ragtag group of students into cheerleading All-Stars.

Witherspoon was immediately drawn to this project because it was filled with real heart, deep joy, and the power of teamwork, and she felt it perfectly reflects the mission of her production company Hello Sunshine.

“I’ve been looking for a project that brought our Hello Sunshine mission to make women the heroes of their own stories to a younger generation for a long time. When I saw this story, I immediately knew this idea would do just that,” said Witherspoon in a statement.

Witherspoon’s transition to television started with Big Little Lies, for which she won an Emmy Award as the show’s executive producer. She went on to star in Hulu’s mini-series Little Fires Everywhere and Apple TV+ drama The Morning Show, which is set to return for its third season next year.
