Law & Order will return for its 23rd season next year, and another amazing NYPD detective will soon join the force. Veep alum Reid Scott joined the long-running NBC police procedural as a series regular for its upcoming 23rd season.

The 23rd season of Dick Wolf’s mothership Law & Order drama will premiere on January 18, 2024, after facing many changes in recent years. The series regular Jeffrey Donovan recently left the show over creative differences after portraying Det. Frank Cosgrove and Scott is most likely stepping in to fill the empty slot that he left behind.

This replacement rings a bell, and it comes only one season after Mehcad Brooks was cast as Frank’s new partner Jalen Shaw, following Anthony Anderson’s departure from the series. Season 23 will still feature many familiar faces, including Sam Waterston (Grace & Frankie) as DA Jack McCoy, Hugh Dancy (Hannibal) as Nolan Price, and Camryn Manheim (The Practice) as Lt. Kate Dixon.

Reid Scott got his big break while starring on HBO’s political satire Veep, and he’s been pretty busy after this series ended its run. He most recently appeared in acclaimed comedies The Afterparty and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and is attached to the upcoming rom-com The Idea of You starring Anne Hathaway.
