Reneé Rapp was the core cast member of The S-x Lives Of College Girls since the show’s premiere, but that’s about to change next season. The actress shockingly exited the teen drama ahead of Season 3, and her role will be significantly reduced once the show returns.

Rapp announced her exit ahead of Season 3, and her departure is expected to majorly impact the show’s story. She’ll no longer be a series regular and is set to appear in a handful of episodes of Season 3 as the legacy student Leighton Murray before officially departing.

After announcing her exit from the hit series, Rapp took to social media to reflect on the time she spent starring in The S-x Lives Of College Girls.

“A lot of queer work gets belittled — but playing Leighton has changed my life. I love who I am 10x more than I did before knowing her… She’s such a tiny part of the representation, but even the tiny parts count. I wouldn’t be half the person I am without her and y’all,” she wrote on Twitter.

Rapp’s exit was followed by a viral Page Six report that claimed she was leaving the series after announcing a big music tour without getting permission from the show’s boss Mindy Kaling. Judging by her Instagram account, it’s all water under the bridge since Kaling said they’ll be sad to say goodbye to Leighton, but added she can’t wait to see “her friend” on tour.
