Renee Zellweger is getting some of the best reviews of her career for her performance in Judy, and it’s just a matter of time before award nominations start pouring in. At this point in time, we know there’s at least one prize she’s going to collect – the American Riviera Award at Santa Barbara Film Festival.

This award was established to recognize actors who have made a significant contribution to American cinema, and executive director of the festival Roger Durling explained why they decided to pick Chicago star this time around.

“Ms. Zellweger has always displayed a deep commitment and discipline in her performances which has always made me root for her and admire her deeply. In Judy – she adds a ferocity that solidifies her as one of the greatest actors of her time,” said Durling in a statement.

The list of previous recipients of the American Riviera Award includes many Hollywood legends, such as Philip Seymour Hoffman, Sandra Bullock, and Michael Keaton. Renee Zellweger will receive hers during the 35th edition of the Santa Barbara Film Festival, taking place from January 15-25, 2020.
