Despite being just five episodes into its first season, Reservation Dogs already landed a renewal at FX. The network recently announced that the critically acclaimed comedy would return for season two, with new episodes arriving in 2022.

Reservation Dogs, which premiered on Hulu last month, has three more episodes before wrapping up its freshman run. The season one finale is scheduled to air on September 20th.

Created by Sterlin Harjo and Taika Waititi, Reservation Dogs follows a group of Indigenous teenagers living on a reservation in rural Oklahoma. The bunch spends their days committing various petty crimes while also helping others and fighting for what they believe is right. Their common goal is to leave the reservation behind and reach the promised land they believe is California.

The series notably features exclusively Indigenous writers and directors alongside a predominantly Indigenous cast and crew. It received overwhelmingly positive reviews from the critics and currently holds 100 percent approval on the review-aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes.

“We couldn’t wait to share Reservation Dogs with viewers and are thrilled that they seem to love it as much as we do. We’re happy to put in an early order for another season,” said FX’s president of original programming Nick Grad in a statement shared with The Hollywood Reporter.
