Singer Ricky Martin revealed in January 2018 that he and artist Jwan Yosef are officially married. Martin recently spoke with Attitude magazine and decided to reveal some details about the beginning of his relationship with Yosef, including the fact that he immediately knew he will marry him.
“I contacted him, and we talked for six months. We were just sending messages, talking about life and existential issues… When I first saw him, I said, ‘I am going to marry this guy.’ And apparently, he said exactly the same thing,” said Martin. “Obviously, he only told me this, later on, you have to keep it to yourself at first! But I lost my breath when I saw him. Six months’ build-up and it was very romantic.”
The 46-year-old “Livin’ La Vida Loca” singer and 33-year-old Syrian-born painter began dating in April 2016 and announced their engagements six months later. The couple decided to keep their wedding ceremony secret, and although there were rumors, no one knew for sure. The official confirmation came in January when Ricky Martin revealed that he is “a husband” while promoting The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.
“We exchanged vows, and we’ve swear [sic] everything, and we’ve signed all the papers that we needed to sign, prenups and everything.” – Martin said to E! News at the time. “It feels amazing! I can’t introduce him as my fiancé. I can’t. He’s my husband. He’s my man,”
