Rihanna has knocked almost $1 billion off the value of Snap Inc, Snapchat’s father company after claims that the app made light of domestic violence.

An advert for the “Would you Rather” mobile game contained photos of Rhianna and Chris Brown asked whether you would rather slap her or punch him. Following criticism all over social media, Snapchat has pulled the ad and issued an apology which Rihanna responded to directly:

“Now SNAPCHAT I know you already know you ain’t my fav app out there! But I’m just trying to figure out what the point was with this mess! I’d love to call it ignorance, but I know you ain’t that dumb!” She also said:

“This isn’t about my personal feelings, cause I don’t have much of them…but all the women, children and men that have been victims of [domestic violence] in the past and especially the ones who haven’t made it out yet …you let us down! Shame on you. Throw the whole app-oligy away.”

Shares dropped by around 5% overnight and lots of people are deleting the app in protest of the insensitive ad.
