If reports are to be believed, Rihanna could have been the headline act at the upcoming Super Bowl Halftime Show.

The coveted role has previously been filled by the likes of Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Lady Gaga, U2, Paul McCartney, the Black Eyed Peas, and Katy Perry.

Organizers for the prestigious event have selected Maroon 5 to perform at next year’s show in Atlanta, but according to Us Weekly, they weren’t the initial choice.

The publication claims that the opportunity was first offered to the “We Found Love” singer who turned it down in light of a controversy regarding NFL players kneeling.

Super Bowl LIII is set to take place on the 3rd of February 2019 where Maroon 5 will rock the Mercedes Benz Stadium.
