It’s been five years since Rihanna dropped her last studio album, and we’ve been patiently waiting for her new music ever since. The multi-Grammy winner is gearing up for her next album, but she’s taking time to experiment because she wants her new music to be “completely different” from everything she’d done in the past.

Rihanna took a moment to dish on her new music while promoting her upcoming Savage X Fenty Show and said fans are can’t expect what they hear when her new music comes out.

“Whatever you know of Rihanna is not going to be what you hear. I’m really experimenting. Music is like fashion. You should be able to play. I should be able to wear whatever I want. I treat music the same way. So I’m having fun and it’s going to be completely different,” she explained.

Rihanna’s last album Anti came out in 2016, and she mostly kept busy with her business endeavors in the meantime, including cosmetics line Fenty Beauty and lingerie brand Savage X Fenty. Despite the fact she hasn’t released any solo music, she collaborated with other artists from time to time—most recently she joined forces with PartyNextDoor on “Believe It”.
