Robert Pattison IS the new Batman.
Warner Bros. announced Friday that the superhero tentpole has its lead. After Pattison and Nicholas Hoult were screen tested, the studio picked the Twilight alum to play the coveted role of the Caped Crusader.
According to multiple outlets, negotiations are already underway and the studio intends to sign Pattinson for a three-picture deal. Pattison will take over the role from Ben Affleck, who starred two films and made an appearance in a third.
The forthcoming feature, an origin story is directed by Matt Reeves (War for the Planet of the Apes). He assumed the role of director from Affleck himself back in January 2017.
Pre-production is expected to start this summer, with the film slated to arrive in theaters June 25, 2021.
