Robert Pattinson is going to be the next Batman, whether you like it or not, and he’s fully prepared to take on the role of the caped crusader. He discussed his casting in a recent cover story for Variety and remembered what it was like to put on a Batsuit for the first time.

Pattinson described it as “maybe the craziest thing” he’s ever done but admitted it feels quite transformative and empowering – but surprisingly humiliating.

“You do feel very powerful immediately. And it’s pretty astonishing, something that is incredibly difficult to get into, so the ritual of getting into it is pretty humiliating. You’ve got five people trying to shove you into something,” joked Robert Pattinson.

The former Twilight actor, who reinvented his career with critically acclaimed roles in a series of indie movies, also admitted he was furious after the news of his casting leaked online. He was scared of losing the role following the initial backlash, but everything worked out fine and we’re actually excited to see his take on Batman.

Pattinson can next be seen in The King and The Lighthouse, and the list of his future projects includes several promising movies, including Christopher Nolan’s Tenet.
