“Roma”, “The Favourite” Top List of London Critics Circle Winners

Marco Graf, Yalitza Aparicio, and Daniela Demesa in "Roma"

By this point in awards season, we usually have two front-runners competing for the crown, but not this time around. London Critics Circle Awards provided us with a little bit more clarity, after giving out major awards to Roma and The Favourite.

Alfonso Cuarón snagged two trophies with his deeply personal black and white drama Roma. In addition to winning the biggest honor of the night (film of the year), this project also came out victorious in best director category.

It was also a big night for The Favourite – a satirical look at the reign of the frail Queen Anne, who ruled the Great Britain in early 18th century. This film prevailed in four categories: best British film, best screenwriter, best lead and supporting actress. Olivia Colman and Rachel Weisz picked up awards in acting categories.
