The Rookie scores a full season order at ABC.
ABC has ordered additional episode of the cop drama starring Nathan Fillion. The additional order of seven episodes brings The Rookie’s freshman run to a total of 20 episodes. While this means that the series scored a full season order, it will not consist the traditional 22 episodes’ count.
The series follows John Nolan (Fillion) a middle-aged man who fulfills his dream of becoming an LAPD officer. But few on the force are impressed with the oldest rookie to ever join the department. The series also stars Alyssa Diaz as Angela Lopez, Richard T. Jones as Sergeant Wade Grey, Titus Makin as Jackson West, Mercedes Mason as Captain Zoe Andersen, Melissa O’Neil as Lucy Chen, Afton Williamson as Talia Bishop, and Eric Winter as Tim Bradford.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Rookie has improved ABC’s troubled 10 p.m. slot by 84 percent in total and 36 percent in the coveted adults 18-49 demographic.
