Frances McDormand is fresh off her Oscar win for Nomadland, and she already has several promising projects lined up. One of them is the poignant drama Women Talking, now set to star Rooney Mara, Claire Foy, Jessie Buckley, and several more acclaimed actors.

Based on the novel by Miriam Toews, Women Talking is set to be written and directed by Sarah Polley. According to its official synopsis, the movie centers on “a group of women in an isolated Mennonite religious colony in Bolivia as they struggle to reconcile their faith with a string of assaults committed by the colony’s men.”

In addition to Mara, Foy, and Buckley, Women Talking is also set to star Judith Ivey, Sheila McCarthy, Michelle McLeod, and Ben Whishaw. August Winter, Liv McNeil, and Kate Hallett are set to make their feature film debuts in this project.

In addition to playing the lead role, McDormand will also produce the project via her Hear/Say Productions banner. Nomadland was also co-produced by this company, and she won the Oscar for best film as one of the producers, in addition to collecting the best lead actress award.
