Rose Byrne made a shift to television with her Apple TV+ show Physical, but this series is slowly nearing its final stage. The dark comedy is returning for its third season this August, which will mark the end of Sheila Rubin’s journey of self-discovery.

Physical is set in ’80s San Diego, and it centers on a quietly tormented housewife, battling with personal demons and a vicious inner voice. She finally sees the way out after she discovers aerobics, embarking on a journey of self-discovery and empowerment.

Executive producers Byrne and Annie Weisman released a joint statement in the wake of the show’s cancelation and thanked their partners at Apple and Tomorrow Studios for the chance to bring Sheila to life in all her gritty glory.

“With this final season, Sheila’s three act saga of rebellion, recovery, and redemption comes to the satisfying conclusion that she and her fans so richly deserve. We feel so proud to share this last chapter with everyone,” the duo said in a statement.

In addition to Byrne, Physical also stars Paul Sparks, Rory Scovel, Lou Taylor Pucci, and Della Saba. Zooey Deschanel will join the cast for the third and final season, set to premiere on Apple TV+ on August 2.
