Roseanne Barr claims that she asked for nothing when it came to producing a spin-off of the hit series she created.

Roseanne returned for a 10th season in late March — a full 21 years after the series ended its original run. The show — which received top ratings — was commissioned for an 11th season before Roseanne released a racist remark on Twitter. A tweet that prompted ABC to immediately cancel the show.

It was announced last month that the network would be producing a spin-off of the series entitled The Connors without its lead actress, but with the remaining members of the cast such as John Goodman, Sara Gilbert, and Laurie Metcalf all returning.

In an interview with Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, the 65-year-old said of the spin-off, “I didn’t ask to be paid off. I asked for nothing, and I just stepped away… because that is penance. I put a lot of thought into it.”

The Connors is expected to premiere in the fall.
