Well, that escalated quickly…

In a “blink and you’d miss it” moment, Roseanne has been canceled.

The revival of the ’90s sitcom, which featured the same cast of Roseanne Barr, John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, and Sara Gilbert, has been a rating topper for ABC.

I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me — my joke was in bad taste.”

In light of the incident, ABC declared: “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values and we have decided to cancel her show.”

Sara Gilbert, who played Darlene, reacted to the news on Twitter by condemning Roseanne’s actions:

Grey’s Anatomy producer, Shonda Rhimes, also felt that Roseanne got what she deserved:

Maybe Roseanne should have left Twitter, after all.
