Ruby Rose grew up running around in a Batwoman costume made out of cardboard boxes and fantasized about saving the world like her favorite superhero. Her dream is finally coming true and her bat wings are no longer made of cardboard. Th efirst photo of the Australian actress in the Batwoman costume is here and it’s everything everyone dreamed about – including herself.

The striking new suit, designed by Oscar winner Colleen Atwood, perfectly mirrors classic look from the original DC Comics. It shows Rose ready for a fight in a winged cape, with red bat symbol across her chest, topped with her signature red wig.

Rose will join the Arrowverse by appearing in Elseworlds – a crossover between Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl. This epic episode will pave the way for stand-alone Batwoman series, which should air by the end of next year.

This project will go down in history as the first live-action superhero TV show with lead LGBT character. After her casting made the headlines, Ruby Rose said she’s thrilled and honored to play such a trailblazing character.

“This is a childhood dream. This is something I would have died to have seen on TV when I was a young member of the LGBT community who never felt represented on TV and felt alone and different. Thank you everyone,” wrote Rose on Instagram at the time.
