American Son will star Russel Crowe.
The mobster thriller has added the Australian star to its cast.
The film, which was originally set up at Sony Pictures, is based on the critically acclaimed French film A Prophet, directed by Jacques Audiard. Now set at Paramount, the film will be directed by Andrew “Rapman” Onwubolu with Dennis Lehane writing the screenplay. Neal H. Moritz and Toby Jaffe are producing through Original Film.
American Son centers on a man, who, after falling under the control of a ruthless mobster (Crowe) while in prison, builds a multiracial crime syndicate, takes down his mentor, and earns a place for his crew alongside the Italian and Russian mafias.
