It’s been a while since Ruth Wilson parted ways with Showtime by leaving their series The Affair, but she’s finally ready for a comeback. She’ll take the lead role in the network’s thriller series The Woman in the Wall, costarring Peaky Blinders actor Daryl McCormack.

The Golden Globe-winning actress will take the role of Lorna Brady, who discovers a corpse in her house one morning. After years of suffering from extreme bouts of sleepwalking, he’s completely unaware of who the dead woman is and if she’s responsible for her murder.

Daryl McCormack, who recently received acclaim for his role in Good Luck to You, Leo Grande, will join Wilson in the role of ambitious but elusive detective Colman Akande, who’s on Lorna’s tail for a crime that seemingly has nothing to do with a mysterious murder in her house.

This series also draws inspiration from Ireland’s controversial Magdalene Laundries, a Catholic church asylum where “fallen women” were sent to atone for their sins. This institution was at the center of a huge scandal when unmarked graves of 155 women were uncovered on its grounds. Wilson’s character in this series will be incarcerated at the Magdalene asylums during her teenage years.

The Woman in the Wall is being developed in collaboration between Showtime and BBC, and it’s set to start shooting later this year.
