Ryan Gosling is heading to space — again.

Gosling is in talks to star in Project Hail Mary, based on a new sci-fi novel from The Martian author, Andy Weir. Deadline, which was first to report the news, also reports that MGM is in exclusive negotiations to acquire the project.

In addition to acting, Gosling is set to produce Project Hail Mary, which is centered on a solitary astronaut on a space ship who is trying to save Earth.

Gosling is set to play the astronaut. The actor played astronaut Neil Armstrong in the Damien Chazelle-directed First Man in 2018. His other credits include Half Nelson and La La Land.
