When Ryan Murphy signed a $300 million deal with Netflix, we knew something amazing is coming our way, but famous filmmaker managed to exceed our wildest expectations. He’s currently developing a feature adaptation of hit musical The Prom, and his cast is straight out of a fairy tale.
The Prom follows a group of Broadway eccentrics, who find an unusual occupation after a series of bad reviews threatens to ruin their reputation. They decide to focus their attention on an Indiana teen, who’s not allowed to attend a prom night with her girlfriend, and do everything in their power to right the wrong.
Meryl Streep and James Corden will play the roles of Dee Dee Allen and Barry Glickman, who embarked on this unusual adventure after experiencing failure with their Eleanor Roosevelt play. Star-studded cast will also feature Nicole Kidman, Ariana Grande, Awkwafina and more.
The Prom isn’t the only project Ryan Murphy currently has in development. The list of his upcoming Netflix shows also includes The Politicians, Ratched and Hollywood.
