Ryan Reynolds and Channing Tatum are no strangers to starring in amazing action comedies, and they’ll finally star in one by each other’s side. This epic duo will be in charge of leading Adam and Aaron Nee’s next film Calamity Hustle after Warner Bros. won the intense bidding war for this project.

Calamity Hustle has been described as the mismatched buddy action comedy in the vein of Lethal Weapon, and the studio is hoping it will mark the start of the franchise. It will be set during the holiday season, with New York, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas serving as shooting locations.

The leading duo will play estranged brothers who grew up on the wrong side of the tracks and later went in the opposite direction. Reynolds’s character becomes a cop, who’s forced to track down his low-level criminal brother (Tatum) after he finds himself in trouble following a diamond heist gone wrong.

Warner Bros. won the rights for this project after an intense bidding war, beating Amazon and Netflix. Tatum’s Free Association and Reynolds’ Maximum Effort are among the producers, along with Nee’s Persons Attempting, Kevin J. Walsh, and Free Association’s Reid Carolin and Peter Kiernan. The budget has been estimated at $140 million, with the stars reportedly making approximately $25 million.
