The British Independent Film Awards are coming back in December, and we finally know who’ll be in the running for top awards. The list of nominees has been unveiled, with the romantic comedy Rye Lane leading the way with a total of 16 nods.

Rye Lane is one of the contenders for the best British independent film, but it will have to face tough competition to take the trophy home. Scrapper and All of Us Strangers—both nominated for 14 awards each—are also competing for this award, alongside Femme and How to Have S-x.

Rye Lane is also in the running in several more major categories, including best director (Raine Allen-Miller), best joint lead performance (David Jonsson and Vivian Oparah), best screenplay (Nathan Bryon), and best breakthrough performance (Oparah).

Many A-list stars have been nominated for awards in the acting field, including Jodie Comer and Katherine Waterston for The End We Start From, Tilda Swinton for The Eternal Daughter, and the main cast of All of Us Strangers: Andrew Scott, Paul Mescal, Jamie Bell, and Claire Foy.

The 2023 British Independent Film Awards will return on December 3, with Susan Wokoma and Morfydd Clark serving as hosts.
