Sacha Baron Cohen Reveals New Details of “Borat 2”

Sacha Baron Cohen in "Borat 2"

Sacha Baron Cohen reportedly broke tradition while filming Borat 2

The film, officially titled Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, was filmed, like the first film, in complete secrecy with Baron Cohen fully immersed in the character.

But Baron Cohen broke tradition by revealing his identity to late Holocaust survivor Judith Dim Evans, who appears in the film. The film is reportedly also dedicated to Dim Evans.

Per Deadline, “Out of respect, [Cohen] had someone tell Evans and [her] friend who shares the scene with her that Baron Cohen was himself Jewish and playing an ignorant character as a means of Holocaust education.”

Apparently, being in character was in general really hard for Baron Cohen.  “The hardest thing I had to do was, I lived in character for five days in this lockdown house. I was waking up, having breakfast, lunch, dinner, going to sleep as Borat when I lived in a house with these two conspiracy theorists. You can’t have a moment out of character,” he shared with The New York Times.

Borat 2 will begin streaming October 23 on Amazon Prime.
