Gary Fleder’s next film A Guy Walks Into A Bar just scored SAG-AFTRA’s interim agreement, and its cast is shaping up to be amazing. Sam Rockwell and Kumail Nanjiani landed lead roles in this promising dark comedy, set to kick off production later this year.

A Guy Walks Into A Bar hails from screenwriter Scott Rosenberg (Jumanji: The Next Level, Venom) and it centers on a mild-mannered new father (Nanjiani) who strikes a friendship with a charismatic yet mysterious man (Rockwell) at a bar, but quickly starts suspecting him of concealing a troubling secret.

This is the second collaboration between Fleder and Rosenberg, who previously worked on their debut feature Things to Do in Denver When You’re Dead. They’re producing the film alongside Rockwell, Mark Fasano of Nickel City Pictures, Nadine de Barros of Fortitude International, and Jina Panebianco of Caliwood Pictures, while Nanjiani serves as one of the executive producers.

Rockwell most recently starred alongside Saoirse Ronan in the murder mystery See How They Run, and he’ll next appear in Matthew Vaughn’s star-studded spy action comedy Argylle. Nanjiani is fresh off his Emmy-nominated role in Hulu’s true crime series Welcome to Chippendales, and we’ll soon get to see him in the upcoming Ghostbusters: Afterlife sequel.
