Samuel L. Jackson’s next role is rather purr-fect. The Snakes on a Plane star is will be trading in reptiles for felines as he has been cast in the upcoming Garfield film.

The sassy orange cat has been around since 1976 when he first made his comic strip appearance. Garfield became so popular that in 2002 it received the Guinness World Record for the most syndicated comic strip.

Television series, movies, and even a full-length musical featuring the character have all followed, though it was announced in 2016 that a new CG-animated film was in the works. Despite a few hiccups that delayed production, Chris Pratt was confirmed as the voice of Garfield in November last year.

The Guardians of the Galaxy actor is now set to be joined by a fellow Marvel alum. Jackson will lend his iconic tone to a character created especially for the new flick—Garfield’s father, Vic.

We wonder if he is also a fan of lasagne.
