The Buffy the Vampire Slayer star has joined Sometimes I Lie, a forthcoming limited series from Ellen DeGeneres and Warner Bros TV.

Sarah Michelle Gellar has been set to star as the lead in the thriller based on former BBC journalist Alice Feeney’s debut novel. According to TVLine she will play Amber Reynolds, who wakes up in a hospital bed, unable to move — but she can hear everything that’s going on. She doesn’t remember what happened, and the action skips from the present and her childhood.

Oscar-nominated writer Robin Swicord (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) will pen the big-screen adaptation and DeGeneres and Gellar are set to executive produce. Warner Bros. TV will produce. At this time, no network is attached to the series.

Since doing Buffy, Gellar has only done two other series — the CW’s Ringer and CBS’ The Crazy Ones with Robin Williams.
