Sarah Silverman is making her way to the stage.
The 48-year-old comedian took the stage alongside fellow stand-up comedian Mike Birbiglia at a Tribeca Talks Monday where she announced that she has a musical on the way. She also confirmed that it will premiere within a year and will show off-Broadway at The Atlantic Theatre Company in New York City.
Titled, Bedwetter, the musical is based on her 2010 memoir The Bedwetter: Stories of Courage, Redemption, and Pee.
“It’s a musical. I’m not in it,” said Silverman who added a short description saying: “it’s the year I’m 10 (years old).”
Variety reports thatSilverman is working with songwriter Adam Schlesinger on the production. The two also teamed with playwright Joshua Harmon to work on the musical.
“He read the book and he came over and he just said, ‘This is a play! This is a musical!’” Silverman said. “‘The first chapter is called Cursed From the Start. Cursed From the Start! That’s a line!’”
