Saw X became the most critically acclaimed film in this popular horror franchise following its premiere this fall, and its sequel is on the way! Lionsgate announced that Saw XI is officially happening, and it’s coming to theatres in September next year.

The tenth film in the Saw franchise saw John Kramer aka Jigsaw traveling to Mexico in search of a miracle cure for his terminal cancer. After learning that the experimental procedure is a scam designed to defraud the most vulnerable, he decides to seek revenge.

Saw X was met with positive reviews and crossed the $100 million mark at the global box office. Even before Lionsgate confirmed that the sequel would happen, its director Kevin Greutert told The Hollywood Reporter he’s open to the possibility.

“We’ll just have to see what the future of Saw is. There are so many directions we could go, but for me, there’s no obvious one coming out of this film. I really wanted it to feel like a kind of final send-off for the Jigsaw character, but never say never,” said Greutert.

Saw XI will be released by Lionsgate on September 27, 2024. The studio is yet to reveal if Tobin Bell would return as the Jigsaw Killer.
