Avengers: Endgame felt like the end of Natasha Romanoff’s journey in the MCU, but Scarlett Johansson will return to this role in the stand-alone Black Widow movie. The Oscar-nominated actress recently finished filming this project and said it brought her closure.

Black Widow actually isn’t taking place in a post-Endgame world, and it’s set between the events of Civil War and Infinity War. Fans of the Avengers franchise already know that Johansson’s character met a dark fate at the end, and this movie gave her an opportunity to say goodbye.

“I can’t wait to share it with everybody, it was fantastic. Honestly, it brought a closure to me that I needed. I was kind of, you know, wiped out after that last one. I mean emotionally and literally,” said Johansson in an interview with Jimmy Fallon.

The actress also made it clear that we won’t see Natasha coming back to life, but simply take a look at her past by saying that “death is a pretty final thing”. Black Widow is scheduled to premiere on May 1st, 2020 and it will also star David Harbour, Florence Pugh, and Rachel Weisz.
